Our Mission

Many will question the purpose of building this temple when there are many such Hindu temples and Baba is surely present in all of them. The answer is fairly simple. If there is one thing unique about Shirdi Sai Baba it is the freedom he bestows in this devotees to worship in any form and way. This temple will stand for that freedom, the succor to all devotes seeking respite from their worldly problems and materialism. Baba always said, “If you look at me, I will look at you”. In reality, it is not the Sansthan building the temple, it is Baba who has decided to grace Sydney. It is Baba who wants to provide his devotes a place where they can sing his praises to joy and where they can open their hearts out to him and experience his miracles.

Where From Now

It has been twelve years and we have been holding Satsang sessions every Sunday between 5:30-7:30PM at Shirdi Sai Mandir Sydney. The atmosphere in our little temple is wonderful. As we offer a series of heart rendering devotional songs. Each of our bhajans is prayer in itself and sometimes the lyrics move the heart and soul as they endeavor to heal and inspire us from within and become better human beings in society. In a sense, the meditation and atmosphere of love and goodwill helps us to recharge our batteries and focus on our day to day lives.

History Of The Temple

It must be remembered that as long as, We keep our hearts open to the Divine it carries out the rest in its own way and time. Know that Baba organizes his script, only he chooses his little open windows (us) to create these Leelas (dramas) to simplify our understanding.

It all started, in late Dec’1996 , Kishen Bhaisaheb -who has been a Special and humble Baba devotee wrote his feelings on a yellow piece of paper that ,”he would like to have Baba’s Murti installed at a Temple in Sydney”…the Intention was set….by Baba himself as the thought is also created by the master himself).

Then a few months later, by chance, he was introduced to a group of Baba devotees who wished to start a Baba movement in Sydney. Now as they gathered and decided to hold weekly Bhajans together singing praises to our Beautiful Sai, the location was being discussed. They saw a few with no outcome…until this current location (420 Liverpool Rd Strathfield South in NSW Australia )was picked from an Indian Paper for Leasing…and being the first person to call was offered straight away and accepted by all unanimously.

Baba’s Big picture was kept and lamps lighted and Sunday Bhajans began…this happened around May 1998.

Followed by Baba’s Murti that arrived in Sydney in 1999 and passing through this Venue it sat at a Silverwater warehouse (owned by Kishen bhaisaheb), as all waited for a permanent location for Baba’s form to be placed.

Simultaneously, C. B. Sathpathiji (lovingly known as Guruji, another Baba Devotee in India) had pledged 108 Baba Murti Sthapana’s all around the world and desired to place one in Sydney. When informed that we (Sydney) already had one and were waiting, he offered to come here and organize the Sthapana ASAP. A message was sent that the location, permanent or otherwise is not important and Baba loves to settle here.

This lead to setting the day as the long weekend in June 2001 for the blessed occasion.

A huge function with bhajan‘s by Manhar Udhas and several beautiful local singers graced this Occasion. Thus, Baba arrived at his chosen destination to create another Shirdi in Sydney.

The rest is a beautiful colorful historical journey filled with LOVE, JOY, PEACE and HARMONY. All devotees make their way from all over even interstate and feel blessed by his presence at this Dwarkamai. One has to only visit this site to transform at the very graceful sight.

There have been many miracles (big and small) experienced by devotees at our temple. This can be attributed to the devotion of the our visitors who come with faith.

Just like Baba, after his stay at Dwarkamai decided to expand himself to the Samadhi Mandir at Shirdi to accommodate the growing Sai Parivaar, We (all devotees) are attempting to do the same for the growing Sai Parivaar here in Sydney.

One can feel only humbled and grateful to this kind Sadguru who finds us worthy enough to be instrumental in creating and uplifting the values shared by him.

Let’s pray that this feeling will continue to grow in the coming times…with his GRACE.

Dhyana Moolam Guru Murti.
Puja Moolam Gurur Padam,
Mantra Moolam Gurur Vakyam,
Moksha Moolam Guru Kripa
